Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair 2018
HCMC - The 11th Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA-EXPO 2018) will be held in HCMC from March 7 to 10, 2018, featuring nearly 1,980 booths of 450 enterprises, the highest in 11 years.
Jointly held by the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, the Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCMC (HAWA) and HAWA Corporation, VIFA-EXPO is the largest such event in Vietnam.
This event will take place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) at 799 Nguyen Van Linh Parkway, District 7, HCMC.
Speaking at a press conference on VIFA-EXPO 2018 on February 27, the organizer said VIFA-EXPO 2018 will have more exhibitors, products and international visitors than last year.
According to Huynh Van Hanh, vice chairman of HAWA, the 1,980 booths will cover 30,000 square meters, up 29% compared to last year.
The exhibition will showcase a variety of products with competitive prices, modern designs and outstanding features. It is also expected to create a chance for furniture and home accessories manufacturers and suppliers to share experiences, seek partnerships and foster ties with customers and partners.
Hanh said there would be a large number of enterprises from countries and territories that have a strong wood industry like Singapore, Taiwan, the U.S., Australia, Russia, Canada, China, Denmark and Hong Kong. Visitors will come from 80 countries and territories.
HAWA will reserve an area to exhibit the winning designs of the Furniture Design Competition – Hoa Mai Prize 2017-2018. First launched in 2002, the annual competition is held by HAWA to contribute to developing Vietnam’s furniture design industry by finding and supporting talented designers.
According to data of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s export turnover of wood, wooden products and non-timber forest products totaled US$8 billion last year. Wood and wooden products alone brought in US$7.66 billion, making the country the largest wood and wood product exporter in ASEAN, the second largest in Asia and the fifth largest in the world.
HAWA estimated Vietnam’s wood, wooden product and non-timber forest product exports could reach US$9 billion this year. Hanh believed the target is achievable thanks to the expanding market, free trade agreements the country has signed, the growing woodworking industry and the increasing global demand for furniture.
