Swiss Import Promotion Programme - SIPPO in Peru signed the first Memorandum of Understanding for joint work with the Peruvian Chamber of Commerce, Production, Tourism and Services (PeruCámaras)

Lima, April 19, 2018. In a public ceremony, the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO), Swisscontact as operator and PeruCamaras signed the Memorandum of Understanding for 2018-2020 period.

The protocol ceremony was held by Mrs. Yolanda Torriani, President of Perucamaras, Mónica Watson, Manager of PerúCamaras, Mr. Martin Peter, Head of Swiss Cooperation SECO in Peru and Mr. Jon Bickel, Country Director of Swisscontact Peru.

The Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) supports peruvian companies exporting processed foods from the agricultural sector and technical wood to increase their exports to Switzerland and other European markets. SIPPO works directly with the Export Promotion Organizations strengthening the scope and quality of its services for its associate members.

Martin Peter, Head of Swiss Cooperation SECO in Peru, highlighted: "SIPPO is one of the oldest programs of the Swiss Cooperation. In this new stage the program has changed its focus, worked before directly with companies that were one step away from exporting, helped them participate in international fairs and thus generated business contacts. Since last year the focus of the program is to work with export service providers, such as chambers of commerce, with this action is expected to achieve greater scope, increase the scale of the program and achieve sustainability”.

It is expected that the member companies of the associated chambers may have access to export facilitation services, such as: commercial intelligence, networking and matchmaking, measurement of export performance, as well as capacity building in exports.

Yolanda Torriani, stressed that “great progress will be made with this program, because it will guide companies to be more competitive and expand their markets”.
