PROMPERU implemented a webinar on sustainable tourism supported by SIPPO Peru

The Commission for the Promotion of Peruvian Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) with the support of the Swiss Import Promotion Program (SIPPO) funded by the Swiss Cooperation-SECO, carried out the webinar "Profile of the Sustainable Tourist and Post COVID trend" including the results of the research on sustainable tourism trends in Germany, France and Switzerland, important international source markets for tourists with a vision of sustainable development. The webinar had more than 280 attendees.

The webinar begun with the words of Ms. Sandra Doig (Incoming Tourism Deputy Director) where the work of SIPPO in the study development process was highlighted. Afterwards, Mr. Alain Bühlmann, Head of Economic Cooperation and Development Peru at State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) remarked the good work of PROMPERU and SIPPO in strengthening the tourism sector in the country for the reach of employment possibilities and economic development. The introductory part of the webinar closed with the words of Ms. Marisol Acosta, PROMPERU Director of Tourism Promotion, stating the importance of sustainable tourism in the development of the promotion of the sector.

The presentation was made by the international consultant of SIPPO Peru, Ms. Beatriz Martin, who thanks to her experience was able to present the results of the profile of the sustainable tourist, as well as an update and trends on sustainable tourism in the context of COVID 19. Likewise, the measures taken by Europe for the post-COVID tourist reactivation, the Spanish, Finnish and Portuguese cases were presented in the event. Finally, the measures taken by the business sector, hotels, restaurants and travel agencies were included as well.

SIPPO is an Export Promotion Program that focuses on Peru in three sectors in its first phase of execution, tourism, processed foods and technical wood. The Program is executed in 11 countries, among which is Peru, and seeks to enhance organizations that promote tourism and exports to lead them to excellence by increasing exports and employment as a resulto of the improvement of their capacities and institutional strengthening in an sustainable way.
