Olive Oil, flagship product of Tunisian exports in 2018

In Tunisia, the marketing campaign for olive oil often begins around the end of October each year.

The foreign trade results during the quarter Nov-Dec (2017) and January 2018 are highly positive:

- Export of 53,700 tons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) in bulk to almost 20 countries including Italy (18,800 tons), Spain (16,000 tons), the USA (9,000 tons) in addition to several new destinations like Argentina, Austria, Australia, etc.

- Export of 4,200 tons of Bottled Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) to 31 destinations, including 1,500 tons in France and 1,000 tons in Canada.

These results contributed to the improvement of the food trade balance during the mentioned quarter.

The SIPPO program has planned a series of actions in 2018, aimed at strengthening the skills of the partner BSOs in Tunisia, in order to increase sales, diversify the international markets for EVOO and improve the services provided to Tunisian exporters seeking to improve their access to markets in Switzerland, the EU and the rest of the world.

SIPPO will support its partner BSOs in the realization of market profile studies, the branding of Tunisian olive oil through the encouragement of participation in international competitions and trade fairs (such as Zurich Olive Oil Award and Zurich fair) next to the organization of targeted B2B events benefiting from advanced international expertise in this area.
