MoU Signing between Government of Indonesia and Government of Switzerland on Cooperation in Trade Promotion

On 17 June 2026, the Government of Indonesia represented by the Ministry of Trade of Republic of Indonesia and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, represented by the Swiss Ambassador for Indonesia and Timor Leste signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Trade Promotion, supported by SIPPO Indonesia.

This MoU signing event attended by the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED) of Ministry of Trade along with the Directors under the DGNED, the Swiss Ambassador for Indonesia and Timor Leste in Jakarta, Deputy Head of Section Trade Promotion SECO Bern, Program Manager Trade Promotion SECO Bern, Head of SECO Indonesia, Country Representative of SIPPO Indonesia, and Country Director of Swisscontact Indonesia. 

This MoU is an amendment to reflect continuous collaboration between the Indonesian Government and Swiss Government to equally contribute to creating sustainable and inclusive economic growth through the integration of relevant partners in Indonesia into world trade, particularly into European markets. Furthermore, this agreement will be used an umbrella framework to continue the collaboration between SIPPO Indonesia and the Business Support Organizations in the country in Phase 3. 

Taking the opportunity, the MoU signing event also discussed regarding the utilization of EFTA CEPA for technical wood and furniture sector, EUDR readiness, market intelligence needs, and other challenges in the technical wood and furniture sector. It is hoped that through this continuous collaboration, there will be enhanced technical assistance, capacity building, training and international know-how transfer on trade promotion from Indonesia to European market.

This MoU signing becomes a special mark for us, as we will celebrate 75 years of diplomatic partnership between Indonesia and Switzerland next year. Looking forward to a continued collaboration for SIPPO Phase 3 to strengthen the export promotion and sustainable trade between Indonesia and Switzerland,” mentioned by the Ambassador for Indonesia and Timor Leste in Jakarta, Olivier Zehnder.

SIPPO has been supporting us in strengthening the capacity in market intelligence, network to buyers, and the development of Sector Export Promotion Strategy. With SIPPO supports, SMEs are able to address the complexity of Swiss market, especially with the integration of sustainability aspect as part of the environment concise practices”, emphasized by the Director General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi.
