Strenghtening the networking and market intelligence capacity of Peruvian BSOs

In the first half of 2022, SIPPO’s country team Peru and the international consultants contributed effectively to the capacity development of BSOs and to networking efforts in the Processed Foods, Natural ingredients and Sustainable Tourism Sector.

Strengthening Peruvian BSOs

SIPPO Peru strenghtened the networking and market intelligence capacity of Peruvian BSOs at Biofach trade fair in Nuremberg. Staff of Promperu, Sierra and Selva Exportadora and Adex were trained by our international consultant on promotion and market intelligence subjects, and are currently in the phase of developing a market research report about the results of the fair. Capacity development including synergies with IPD further contributed to the networking of the BSOs. Peer learning with other countries such as Tunisia, Serbia and Albania were also important assets for the capacity development strategy of the peruvian organizations.

SIPPO at public appearances

SIPPO Peru also provides information about its activities at public appearances at events. For example, SIPPO Peru participated in the International Passion Fruit Congress with a presentation that highlighted the opportunities for organic products in Europe. SIPPO shared the team's experience at Biofach 2022 with other organizations such as Las Libertad Chamber of Commerce, Ministry of Agrarian Development and regional Governments, Agricultural Health Servide of Peru - SENASA, among others. In this way, SIPPO is sharing its knowledge with other stakeholders in the field of processed foods and natural ingredients.

Capacity development around proper trade fair participation

SIPPO Peru participated in the Cocoa and Chocolate Fair in Lima with training sessions. This included capacity building training with an international consultant on how to properly participate in the fair, how to find buyers, and promotional strategy. Follow-up measures have already been defined to embed the lessons learned from the fair in the companies. For example, in the follow-up phase SIPPO Peru promoted the networking with several organizations such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Promperu, Sierra and Selva Exportadora. Currently, our international consultant is developing a guide for SME participation in events in the cocoa and chocolate sector.

Capacity Building on sustainable tourism

As part of the Top Resa trade fair, capacity development sessions on sustainable tourism were conducted virtually and on site in Lima by our international consultant for BSOs, Promperu and Canatur. SIPPO provided the BSOs and subsequently the companies with high-level content on how to emphasize sustainability in the French and Swiss markets. Potential synergies with other organizations in the sector such as the Lima Chamber of Commerce and the Gremtur Tourism Guild are in the works. SIPPO Peru itself was recently on site in Paris to implement market research and networking activities.
