SIPPO at the XIV Salon of Cacao and Chocolate in Peru
The XIV Salon of Cacao and Chocolate in Peru, which took place from Thursday, July 13th, to Sunday, July 16th, was a resounding success with the active participation of the Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) as an institutional sponsor.
The event featured masterful demonstrations, cultural presentations, and educational activities. Moreover, it not only showcased the chocolate industry's offerings but also promoted the cultural, economic, and sustainable importance of cacao and chocolate in the country.
During the V Latin American Forum, SIPPO played a significant role in the organizing committee of the event, where they analyzed the commercial trends of Peruvian cacao and explored new opportunities in the market, including sustainable production practices and cacao sector regulations. Additionally, they addressed the environmental issue of deforestation, highlighting agroforestation as a sustainable technique for production.
A fundamental part of the event was the business matchmaking session, which brought together important international buyers from countries such as Germany, Argentina, the United States, Hungary, Poland, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and New Zealand. These buyers met with 38 Peruvian export companies, primarily from the cacao sector, representing various regions of the country, such as San Martín, Junín, Huánuco, Cusco, Loreto, Amazonas, and Lima. It is estimated that these negotiations will reach 3 million dollars, further strengthening the cacao industry in Peru and promoting its sustainable development.
This gathering not only delighted cacao and chocolate enthusiasts but also highlighted the importance of promoting sustainability in the trade of this cherished product in Peru, Latin America, and the world.
