The Peruvian cosmetic industry has gained international recognition thanks to the presentation titled "Peru, The Cradle of Natural Cosmetopeia," offered during the InCosmetics fair (Barcelona, March 28 to 30) and organized by the BSO PROMPERU through its Commercial Office in Spain and the Manufacturing Department. In coordination with SIPPO Peru and as a collaborative effort between teams, representatives from SIPPO Colombia, Tunisia, and South Africa attended the presentation.
Peruvian companies CANDELA, ESSENTIAL OILS PERU, and COSMETIK ORGANIC were in charge of giving conferences in which they presented their products and their commitment to sustainability. CANDELA presented its product, The Amazing Amazon Nut, and highlighted the importance of forest conservation in the production of natural cosmetics. Moreover, ESSENTIAL OILS PERU highlighted its work in reforesting Bursera graveolens, a plant from which an essential oil highly valued in the cosmetic industry is extracted. Finally, COSMETIK ORGANIC spoke about the cultivation of jojoba in Peru and its water footprint.
The presence of SIPPO delegations from Colombia, Tunisia, and South Africa in the Peruvian presentation shows the importance of the natural cosmetics industry in the international market. It also demonstrates the collaborative work between SIPPO country teams in Latin America and Africa, which undoubtedly favors the exchange of knowledge and the identification of business opportunities in the international market.
The BSOs present at the session were the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota (CCB) from Colombia, while the Tunisian delegation was composed of the Tunisian Export Promotion Center (CEPEX), and the South African delegation was represented by WESGRO (Export Advancement Program), ECDC (Eastern Cape Development Corporation), and CECOSA (Cosmetics Export Council of South Africa).
In summary, the presence of SIPPO delegations at the InCosmetics fair and in the presentation of the Peruvian offer of natural ingredients for cosmetics shows the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation in the current cosmetic industry.
