Schengen Agreement

The Schengen Agreement grants Switzerland access to the EU’s security cooperation tools. The agreement abolishes the systematic identity checks at the borders between Schengen countries, while at the same time reinforcing the collaboration between the courts and the police. The Schengen visa is also valid for Switzerland. Tourists from India, China, Russia or other countries that require a visa no longer need an additional Swiss visa for a short visit to Switzerland during their travel through Europe, which increases Switzerland’s attractiveness as a vacation destination.
