Salaries
Salaries are relatively high in Switzerland, reflecting the country’s high levels of prosperity and output. Generous salaries are proof of success and make Switzerland attractive to well qualified workers. Compared to other cities, gross wages in Zurich are lower than in Copenhagen and Oslo only; but as lower deductions (taxes, social insurance) are made, net income is the highest in the world. Regular official surveys of wage levels and structures show significant differences between and within sectors.
