These include herbs, spices, fatty and essential oils, extracts, dyes and tinctures, but no finished products. There is a rising market potential reported for natural ingredients. Raw materials gathered in the wild are of special interest for economic development and for a sustainable approach because they involve thousands of families from the lower socioeconomic class.
70-80% of raw material traded in Europe is collected in the wild. SIPPO’s main focus in this sector is the conservation of biodiversity products and their sustainable promotion in the European market.
