Imports into Switzerland and the EU

The Swiss Import Promotion Programme (SIPPO) is one of OSEC’s mandates financed by the ‹Swiss Secretariat of State for Economic Affairs (SECO).› It supports small and medium-size entreprises (SMEs) from developing and transition countries in gaining access with their products to Switzerland and to the European Union. SIPPO’s support activities include tailored business advice ( e.g. productivity enhancement, lean management), expert product advice ( e.g. design, certification), as well as matchmaking activities such as trade fair participation, study tours and selling missions. SIPPO further provides updated information on markets and consumer trends in Europe.

At the other end of the supply chain, SIPPO provides information and advice to importers from Switzerland and the European Union interested in high-quality products from selected developing and transition countries. It regularly organizes buying missions to these countries with Swiss companies. 

SIPPO takes into serious consideration the environmental compatibility of the products in question, and to the social policies of the manufacturers based on the ‹Global Compact's ten Principles› in the areas of human rights, labour , the environment and anti-corruption.
